Tiffany Style glasswork is one of America's greatest contributions to Art.
The method was developed in the studios of Louis C. Tiffany in the late 1800's. Previously stained glass windows were held together by bulky channels of lead "came." Lead came doesn't bend around a small piece of glass; so pieces were at least as big as your hand. That's OK for a church or very large window.
Tiffany had something else in mind.... delicate designs filled with 1000's of pieces - an awesome amount of detail. Tiffany Studios replaced bulky came with thin copperfoil. (This style is commonly called the copperfoil method.) Suddenly lamps could be made with pieces as small as a dragonfly's eye. Copperfoil went on to redefine glass art. It is still the most time consuming form of window construction, but worth every minute.
These Tiffany-style glass panels represent unique designs I've created throughout the years.
